A Matter Of Time
‘A Matter of Time’ is a project that was made over the course of two years since 2020. The idea initially began alongside my projects in the first, second, and finally the third year of university as my final project. I have always found different landscapes intriguing, making them the main subject of my experiments, which later developed into this project to show my deep appreciation for natural landscapes. Analysis of case studies and suggestions from tutors have massively contributed to the development of this final project. Over time, this project has found its own direction in terms of style, technicality, and concept.
This project fundamentally aims to reflect the creation of photography as artwork that has derived from a ‘piece’ of ‘time’ – something that is exclusive, temporary and is converted into something permanent such as a photograph. Clouds are a perfect representation of this as they are never permanent until captured in a still image. This concept runs throughout the series of this final project.
‘A Matter Of Time’ represents time through natural elements, which in this case are the clouds captured in three different seasons in Thailand: rainy season, summer season and winter season, using photography as a media as well as a technical visual language. By using both elements of photography, I aim to express the feeling of time through the work and this is what I believe photography is all about: ‘To Stop The Time’.
